Growth habit: Upright
Foliage: Alternate, finely-divided, fernlike, light green, strongly scented.
Flowers: Many small, terminal golden-yellow disk flowers with white ray flowers. Double forms exist. Blooms late June through August.
Culture: Full sun and well-drained soil. Tolerates either dry or wet soil once established. Self-sows. Foliage and flowers have medicinal uses (to alleviate migraine).
Uses: Border, herb garden, cut flower. Nice as a filler when planted among larger flowers.
Propagation: Division, cuttings, seed
Related species and Cultivars: ‘Aureum’ has yellow flowers. ‘Flore Pleno’ and ‘Santana’ have double flowers.
T. vulgare is tansy, a coarser plant with yellow disc florets packed into a cyme inflorescence. There is a nice golden-foliaged tansy called ‘Isla Gold'
