Growth habit: Upright to rounded
Foliage: Opposite and sessile, linear or linear-lanceolate, ¾ inches long
Flowers: Showy ray flowers, single or double, usually without disk flowers. Flowers are up to 1 inch in diameter. Colors typically orange, yellow, bronze or white. The wild form has purple flower heads and blooms from summer to autumn.
Culture: Full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Heat and drought tolerant
Pests and problems: Powdery mildew is less common in this species that in Z. elegans. Sun, good air circulation and dry weather help prevent mildew
Uses: Annual groundcover or edging, cut flowers
