Size: 0 (min) to 0 (max)
Size Description:
Notes: Growth habit: Clumping Foliage: Narrow, sword-shaped, basal, arching leaves that are 1 to 2 feet long and ½ to 1 inch wide. Flowers: Single or double, funnel to trumpet shaped, sometimes ruffled, 2 to 8 inches wide, on top of tall, thick scapes. Colors include red, pink, orange, yellow and off-white, or mixtures of colors. Flowers last only one day (hence the common name), but plants constantly produce more flowers during their season of bloom. Some cultivars only bloom one to two weeks, while others will bloom throughout the growing season. Culture: Full sun or partial shade in hot climates, and prefers well-drained soil. Divide plants every 2 to 6 years. Flowers that are pastel-colored will fade in full sun. Deadhead regularly to promote a longer flowering season. Uses: Mixed border, massed planting, accents, hedge. Dwarf varieties can be used in rock gardens. Notes courtesy of Sue Trusty.
