Notes:
Height x width: 1 to 3 feet tall and 1 to 1.5 feet wide
Growth habit: Upright
Foliage: Drooping, irregularly-serrate, ovate-lanceolate, gray-green leaves to 3 inches long, with white powdery felting found on the upper stems and calyx
Flowers: Two-lipped, violet-blue flowers in 4-8” axillary and terminal racemes from June to frost. Cultivars are available in various shades of blue, purple, lavender, white and bicolor.
Culture: Full sun or partial shade and well-drained, moist soil. Tolerates poor soils and some drought
Uses: Border, bedding plant, cut flowers, dried flowers
Cultivars:
‘Blue Bedder’- 2 feet, compact, with blue flowers
‘Victoria’ – 18 inches, dwarf, with intense violet-blue flowers
‘Evolution’ – 2006 AAS winner, shown here, 'Evolution' is the first Salvia farinacea with lilac flower spikes. From a distance, 'Evolution' flowers are several shades lighter than its closest comparison. 16 to 20 inches tall
